2009 Scores

American Carillon Music Editions

The 2009 American Carillon Music Editions Catalog of new offerings is now ready for sale. This year's scores provide a balanced offering of original compositions, arrangements, and duets.

Original Compositions
We are pleased to feature two John Courter pieces, a whimsical rondo in Lydian mode, Rondo Lidico, and a majestic Intrada col Aria; three Geoffrey Cook scores, Old Friends, a ballad which incorporates the tune "auld lang syne", Pantheon, described as an overture for carillon, and The Royal Measure, a collection of ten original minuets for carillon; a Karel Keldermans composition, the sweet Romanza per Madelina, and a spectacular work by John Hammond, Variations in the Third Mode.

Our remaining original compositions include two collections: a theme and variations, Ritornello, and The Setting of a Summer Sun by a new composer for carillon, Roger Goetz in his Two Pieces for Carillon, and John Hammond's, Five Hymns to the Blessed Virgin.

Arrangements
We are including two arrangements by Ron Barnes, Mode Sous-Ionien (Denis Gaultier), originally composed for lute and, Estudio 13 (Fernando Sor), originally a guitar piece; and two arrangements by Jürgen Buchner, Variations on a Theme by Mozart (Mauro Giuliani) and the four-movement Sonata Prima (Franz Maichelbeck).

Duets
We are including six duets: two John Knox arrangements of pieces by J.S. Bach, Andante (Pastorale/590) and an all-time favorite selection for weddings, Sheep May Safely Graze, the energetic arrangement of Chopin's Grande Valse Brillante, by Sue Bergren, two arrangements by Ron Barnes, a very rhythmic Danse (Claude Gervaise), and A. Liadov's collection titled Four Birioulki, Op.2 (playthings). The final duet is Vegar Sandholt's totally fun and crowd-pleasing arrangement of the Homenkoll March (Allan Johansson).
