Mountain Flight for Peace

In 1916, Yale formed its First Aerial Unit, building and flying airplanes for fun. The raging World War I in Europe seemed very far away. However, these young men and their families foresaw that the United States would be drawn into the war and they began serious flight training to catch up with the already strong German air force.

My Grandfather, Samuel Sloan Walker flew some of the first missions in the Alps. “Mountain Flight for Peace” is a musical tone painting of his flights, which were full of adventure, danger, and a commitment to peace.
