Springfield Counterpoints

Composer Notes... A Suite of three pieces in Boroque style, commissioned for the 40th International Carillon Festival, Springfield Park District, Springfield, Illinois and composed in September 2000. The movements are designed so that they can be played without a break or separately.

1. Prelude – A ceremonial march with an andante in triple time which prefigures the fugue finale.
2. Nocturne – A dreamy movement which can be played separately by omitting the links. Otherwise it leads directly into:
3. Fugue – Part writing kept to a minimum for clarity on the carillon, it does end with a triumphant three voice cadence.
