Chorale Partita IV on "St. Anne"

Composer Notes... A set of variations on the English Hymn Tune by William Croft, 1714. It is dedicated to James Lawson.

This is a continuous set of four variations, the last one of which is in the style of a Bach Chorale Prelude. It leads without a break into a paraphrase of Bach’s Organ Fugue BWV 552, which in England is known as the “St Anne Fugue” because of its close resemblance to William Croft’s melody.
