Yiddish Music for Carillon (Vol II)

Arranger:

The Grinding Mill
Welcoming Choir
A Friend for Life
Desire

Yiddish theatre began in Romania (ca. 1876), but within a few short years, Russian anti-Semitism drove a mass migration to the United States. New York became the center for the Golden Age of Yiddish Theatre in the early 20th century. The storylines and music addressed many topics of concern for the new immigrants trying to find a middle ground between cultural tradition and their lives in a new country. This rich repertoire was drawn upon for the present collection of arrangements.
