Capriccio 3


Capriccio 3 was commissioned in 1993 by Princeton University for the newly appointed University Carillonneur Robin Austin to perform at the re-dedication of the "Class of 1892 Bells" -- The Princeton University carillon on June 13 of that same year. Ronald included "Campanae Parisienses"* ("Les Cloches de Paris") by Jean-Baptiste Bésard (b Besançon, c 1567; d after 1617) in the middle section of the composition to honor Robin's study (1981-1982) with Jacques Lannoy at the French Carillon School.
