ACME 2022 Highlights

This year ACME is offering the option of purchasing many of our scores as a digital download (PDF format). Each score’s description will offer a choice of the available sheet music formats of paper or digital download. Some scores will offer a “choice” of paper or digital download, while others offer only a paper score “or” a digital download score. We hope that our paper inventory will decrease while at the same time our inventory of PDFs will increase. Purchased scores are displayed in each customer’s “My Account” tab, grouped by each order. Click on the “My Account” tab and then click to view the latest Order to download the purchased digital scores. Customers who purchase only digital downloads will avoid having to pay a shipping fee. Customers who purchase a combination of paper and digital downloads will need to pay a shipping fee calculated for only the paper scores of the order.

This year we have also added a brand-new score composed by Frank DellaPenna, Suite Seasons being sold only as a digital download (without an option to purchase it as a printed score). Suite Seasons includes four movements: Season of Hope, Season of Life, Season of Cicada Singing and Season of The Falling Leaves. This work was commissioned by the Thomas Rees Carillon Society to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Thomas Rees Memorial Carillon in Springfield, IL. This suite was premiered by Carlo van Ulft during the 59th Thomas Rees International Carillon Festival which was held June 3-6, 2021.

The composer’s thoughts:

Season of Hope represents a new year.
Season of Life is springtime.
Season of Cicada Singing is summer
Season of The Falling Leaves is autumn.

ACME 2020 Highlights

The 2020 American Carillon Music Editions new collection is now ready for purchase.

Click here to purchase the 2020 collection.

This collection provides a balanced offering of original compositions, arrangements, and duets, which we believe reflect the diversity of our customer’s carillon music preferences. We think you will find the music not only fun to play, but very useful when planning concerts for the upcoming year. Here are some highlights…. Please see 2020 for the complete list of scores available.

The Messiah by G. F. Handel arranged by Carlo van Ulft. This collection of 7 pieces starting with the And the Glory of the Lord and ending with Hallelujah! are all time favorites any time of year.

Great Day (That Great Gittin’ Up Mornin’) by Adolphus Hailstork, commissioned by Charles Semowich. The President's own United States Marine Band pre-ceremony repertoire Jan 20, 2021 included Adolphus Hailstork's "Fanfare on Amazing Grace".

The Wellesley Studies composed by Geert D’Hollander is a 30-page collection (10 compositions) of easy to moderate difficulty for one or two players. All pieces are playable on a carillon of 32 or more bells.

The Ballad of Captain Kidd arranged by Peter Paul Olejar is based on an English Ballad describing the evil antics of a pirate named William Kidd. The lyrics of the ballad are included in this arrangement so you can be appropriately horrified when you play the piece.

Two Pieces by Pamela Ruiter-Feenstra
Bacharabàn features influences from three cultures: an Arabic pitch mode, a Latin American Rumba dance rhythm, and pedal point inspired by Bach’s Prelude to his G-Major Suite for Solo cello.
Belonging: A Carillon Call to Care for All began as an artist’s response to the hate speech and actions that permeate the news in our time. In Belonging, Ruiter-Feenstra seeks to lift up the voices of individuals in communities that have been marginalized. These four pieces are programmatic in that each piece tells a story. They may be performed singly or as a set.

Celebration on “O Sanctissima” by Scott Hummell was commissioned for the 175th anniversary of St. Mary of Redford, Detroit, Michigan by Annette Wright, Director of Music.

American Gothic by Joey Brink was commissioned by Kirk in the Hills in honor of the sixtieth anniversary of the Kirk carillon, and thirty years of service by Kirk carillonneur Dennis Curry. This suite celebrates the art and architecture of the Kirk (with hints of Simple Gifts).

Two Beautiful Pieces
Rondo Espressivo by CPE Bach from Sonata in B minor – H.245 and Meditation by Jules Massenet from the opera “Thais” written for solo violin and orchestra. Both pieces arranged by Carlo van Ulft.

My Love is Like a Red, Red Rose arranged by Scott Hummel is a traditional Scottish ballad with simple but effective lyrics. "My luve's like a red, red rose/That's newly sprung in June" describe a love that is both fresh and long lasting.

Wade in the Water arranged by Pete Olejar, is the name of a spiritual associated with the songs of the Underground Railroad. The verses describe the Israelites’ escape out of Egypt.

Petite Cérémonie a carillon duet by David Maker, uses a “scotch snap” as the beginning motive of this little ceremonial arch. The pedalboard, as well as the manual board, is used by both players, who explore all sorts of textural relationships.

Baroque Music for Lute and Guitar arranged by Elizabeth Vitu consists of 5 short pieces that provide a good resource for beginning carillon players.
